This is a task that none I have ever met that cares to do this chore. But here may be a few ideas to make it a little easier on ya...
First, apply ammonia as this is a cheap way to accomplish the job - and leave this on for the night. Wipe it all up the next morning as soon as you get up. An easier way is to catch those nasty grease spills right away - dowse the area with salt - it is a natural absorbant.
... or we could just hire you to come over and do the cleaning, now how easy is that? ^-^

that dawn power dissolver works wonders on the ummm, dang, those things that catch the grease and stuff on top of the stove....under the actual burners.
Heh. Laziness wins out here! I don't use the oven for anything but storage.
For just my daughter and me, the toaster-oven, microwave, and an electric stewpot/steamer are all we need. I actually shut off the gas to the oven/range and put a covering over it for more counter space.
