Does anyone use any sort of homemade divination tool?
We had someone in the chatroom one night that lost, or had stolen, his pendulum. He was deadset against buying a new one as he was very attached to the old one. I suggested that he might use a sewing needle on the end of a thread as a temporary pendulum. That way he may have it's use while still looking for his actual pendulum.
Just curious if anyone else has fashioned some sort of homemade tool.

Yeah, I gave him the needle and thread idea from the old tale that a needle on thread could predict if you were going to have a boy or girl if you were pregnant. Girl, the needle will swing in a circle. Boy, it will swing back and forth in a straight like. It works...try it sometime. You can do it on people not expecting. Over a girl's hand, it will rotate in a circle. Guys...just back and forth...straight line.

I made a pendulum out of a ring in an attempt to find a very important ring that my mom gave me. It didn't work. I tried for several days.
I've got a few sets of homeade runes that I'm planning on selling for my crafts business, charge with high energy :)
I also made my own scrying mirror, and plan on making some for my crafts business.
Oh, and I did make my own pendulum, other than the ring one which was meant just to find my lost ring. I call it my Chaos pendulum. You'd have to see it to understand why I named it that :)

I make my own runes and i've made witchstones too. For a pendulum I just use my grandmother's ring. When I had long hair I threaded it onto that, now I use a length of cotton.
I've heard of people illustrating their own tarot cards, but i'm not that artistically talented.
just a thought, if your going to use a thin metal, IE a needle.. make sure there is no other metal around.. it interupts the magnetic field because of the size of the needle, it is very easy to wrongly interperate something because of interferance from something with a stronger polarity.
If anybody is interesting in having handmade divination tools but you can't/won't make them yourselves, I lady and I make them. We do runes in clay, from rocks, shells, wood, whatever we can get ahold of.
We can also make you a very nice set of divining rods, pendelums, etc. You name it, we can make it.
