Brigit :The Great Mother of all living things.The irish call her Brigid and the scots call her Bride.Her worship was so strongly inbred in the irish culture that the christans could'nt stop her worship , even under pain of death .As both the Great Mother and the Goddes of fire.Brigit serves as the Goddess that heals us of our ills .At one time ,her priestesses were the healers of the world .This is the main reason that for hundreds of years ,the christans made it a death sentence for women to practice any type of medicine.Brigit is also called the Goddess of fire ,her fire was tended day and night for 19 days by 19 priestesses ,on the the 20th day of each cycle the fire was miraculously tended to by Brigit herself.Christans later said that Saint Brigit had 19 handmaiders ,who were nuns like herself and there fore virgins.over the time the like has taken from in wicca ,and now it is falsely thought that her 19 priestesses were virgins.that was'nt nor is it true now.:cry
