Satan in Satanism

Why would anyone want to worship Satan?

Good question, the answer is beyond me and I’m a Satanist. Confused>?

Satan in Satanism is not a literal being, deity, person etc, etc, etc. Satan in Satanism is a philosophical idea and is not mean to be interpreted literally. ‘

Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are the most well known religions world wide and they all have two things in common; 1 they all practice abstinence from almost anything that provides physical, mental, or emotional gratification, as a service to god; 2 They all accept the common idea that Satan is the antithesis of god.

Satanism advocates indulgence in those things that provide gratification so long as they are done responsibly, to quote a specific motto “Responsibility to the Responsible” The Satanist embraces the Idea of taking 100% responsibility for his/her own actions rather than blaming a “devil” for enticing him/her to do anything and is totally against the idea of giving credit to any god for something he/she did themselves.

Satan in Satanism is seen as ultimate truth, reached through cynicism, exploration, experimentation, scrutiny, and above all, LOGIC. We are not “devil worshipers” for the word devil, stemming from the Greek, most commonly refers to a great deceiver.

Terms like “Ave Satanas” (Hail Satan) are not acts of worship. It’s another way of saying Hail Truth, or Hail the Self.

We shun the idea of altruism as a nonexistent entity and embrace the selfish as long as it isn’t interfering with another’s liberties. In Satanic opinion, there is nothing wrong with giving yourself whatever you can to make you happy, either financially, emotionally, possessively, physically, etc, etc. The difference between the Satanist and 99% of the others, is that the Satanist is honest enough to admit it. Even those who do, do things for others without expecting anything from them in return, receive a gratification from it and know in advance that they will be gratified by it, therefore it isn’t altruism, because in essence they are getting something out of it, that being the purpose for doing it anyway. If they weren’t gratified by it, you can bet they wouldn’t have done it in the first place.

LUCIFER IS NOT SATAN!!

Lucifer is the Latin translation of the Hebrew word, Heylel (hey-lale) which literally means “Morning Star” referring to the planet Venus. Venus is the brightest “star” at night, the first to be seen and the last to disappear. Another term is “light bringer”. The Satanist uses this as an analogy for enlightenment of the mind and soul, The Great Illuminator and IT (not he) is Respected, not worshiped.

Blasphemy:

Blasphemy is strictly symbolic and is an act of vocalizing liberation from Abrahamic traditions/philosophies. Basically we aren’t cursing a god but rather the ideology embraced within those traditions, for we do not believe in the existence of those gods, therefore to try to offend one would be pointless. It’s the same as any other pledge that one will never return into slavery to those “gods”

This post is not at all an attempt to cover Satanism, but to dispel a couple of misconceptions about it. I hope it’s helped.

Ave Satanas.

You know Unholy, I must admit, prior to meeting you, I was ignorant of the difference, I suppose, blinded by society's view of Satanism as well. However, now that I know the difference, I let people know as well.
Thank you for explaining and educating us all
