Your connection with Nature

I'm just wondering what everyone does to connect with nature where they live. Hikes, photography and herbalism get me out in Nature to appreciate it. I'm out in the wilderness at least 3 times a week and my wife is teaching me a lot about the local plants. We've identified and used wild onion, mint and a bunch of other plants!

I do when I can.. photography, hiking.. just enjoying the woods...

In my backyard I just like to sit on my deck and just close my eyes and listen to the wind...BB

I live in the city, with blocks and blocks of pavement and traffic all around.

My nature connection is mostly internalized, with plants, herbs, and pictures in my personal environment, as well as a conscious awareness of the lunar and solar cycles.  Frequent visits to the ocean and, when possible, a drive into the mountains help renew the connection.

It's difficult to get a completely quiet moment in my neighborhood, with being between 2 highways, but sometimes there is a quiet moment or two to just go outside, kick off the shoes, and stand with my feet firmly planted on the ground. (Of course, this is usually around 2-3am, but hey)

When we lived about a block from the ocean, I would sometimes get up at the absolute crack of dawn to go sit on the sand and watch the sun come up. It was always so quiet. None of the tourons were there making a racket yet.

my backyard is full of fruit trees and australian native plants, i spend as much time out there as is possible, i have birdbaths, for the many native parrots that visit.  and everynight i leave out  an offering for the earth spirits, just to thank them for  everything they have given me.
