Looking for herbs to help...

Greetings all...

iIam not real smart on herbs and thier properties, so I am hoping someone here can help or knows someone who might be able to. My step father who is a diabetic is having problems with his legs. they are breaking open in huge sore that ooz a puss and watery substance, and cause him great pain. The drs. never tell him what it is or how it can be healed. they just keep telling him to wrap them in guaze. they are causing great pain, and really cutting down on his activity level.

I personally think it is related to the diabetes, but I am not a doc.. so... However I am wondering is there an herb that my mom could make a poultice type wrap with, to help heal this up and relieve some of the pain and discomfort? I was wondering if comfrey would work, but hate to tell my mom to use something that would not be right.

Does anyone here know what would help or anyone that could help me figure this out? I would greatly appreciate it, and I know my mom and step dad would as well. they are willing to try anything at this point.

greetings grey elf, the sores would be related to the diabeties , as diabetics dont heal very well, but it dosent sound like his doctor is very sympathetic to his problem, perhaps it`s time for a change of doctor? Vitamin  E is good for healing, but i would suggest he take it internally. It sounds like he needs a good antibiotic powder  topically.

Greetings, GreyElf,

I agree with dana and would get a second opinion from a diabetic specialist immediately if not sooner.  Please don't mess around on your own with herbal poultices or other home remedies.  There are too many variables in a case like this and tremendous risk for infection as well as vascular complications.  Get another medical opinion, preferably from a diabetic specialist.

Let us know how you make out!

BB,
Silverweb
