Who do you ........... to?

Ok, let me get the ball rolling. Who do you pray to, worship, or work with the most? Is there any one particular God/dess you feel and affinity with?

I am a monist. I believe one source that encompasses all deities (the diamond theory).

I am not sure what i would call my beleif, that may be why I would describe myself as a seeker.

I beleave that all things are made from a vibration, call it Chi, Prana, Ki , Om or even Holy Spirit.

Things can change the flow of this vibration and in order to do this man ( the spieces ) has developed Deities to concentrate upon various aspects of desire.

Any God can be equaly valid, be it Thor, Isis, Vishnu or Jehova it does not matter, what does matter is the intention, if the intention is true and focused it can move the vibration and achieve anything.

My patron Goddess is Inanna. She is a Sumerian Goddess - the Goddess of the Heavens and the Earth. There is a few things about her (which can be found online) but not very much as even though the Sumerians are accredited with the first written language, Sumer is no longer looked upon as a larger part of history (unless you are someone from the southern part of present day Iraq). I am Wiccan by choice, though my beliefs are diversified, as it depends on who / what I am studying (some consider me Eclectic Wiccan). The reason I feel an affinity with her particularly, I am sorry I simply cannot explain it - call it a feeling of coming home. Inanna is a wonderful Goddess as I believe sh eis able to emcompass all three aspects of the Divine Goddess (Maiden, Mother, and Crone). She has helped me to overcome much - and I adore her ability to do so. If you wish to know more, I will be happy to oblige.

I recently brought this topic up in the chat room and had a very good respones from Tarot Bear, this is most of what this person said.

I'm eclectic, there's a Kwan Yin, Virgin Mary, and Green Man on my alter

I asked, Why the Virgin Mary

she's a mother goddess, some "churches" used to be pagan temples, they merely redid their goddesses to match the virgin, the christian mythology is no differant than anyother, the deities are still one, no matter what you call them

Kwan Yin is equally interesting, she began her spiritual journey as a man, and through the discovery of the divine feminine, transformed into a woman

people's ideas are what makes a religion turn ppl on or off; but often the real core of the beliefs is within their stories, art, and music.

I am sure i will bring this topic up again as I had a really good conversation with Tarot Bear.

Hmm. I've always believed that there is someone/thing out there, but I haven't bothered to persue it any.

I did get a... *ahem* sign one night, years and years ago, and shortly after that I landed in Christianity, but I never was comfortable with the Christian view of that special Someone.

I have been thinking on it quite a bit lately. I can't say I 'work' with any diety. I do what I like to call 'walking prayer'. I'm almost constantly talking (thinking) to Someone. I think it's just been myself, though :)

I'm sure that if there is some diety that wants my attention and to be known under a certain guise, They will let me know. Until then, I'm not worried about it.

That's why I like monism so far. I talk to 'someone.' "Someone" is always listening. For lack of a better term, let's call it "God" (not to be confused with the Xian/Hebrew Yahweh/God). This is just "God." It's present in all things and always listening when I feel like a chit chat.

I "acknowledge" a Mother Goddess and a Father God, because I am a human... I still find it a bit difficult to "worship" what is 'other-worldly' to me.  BUT, I do believe there is 'unification' and that the male and female polatities are more for my own human understanding.

I shall quote again from HPBlavatsky:

http://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/invit-sd/invsd-hp.htm

The Secret Doctrine establishes three fundamental propositions: --

(a) An Omnipresent, Eternal, Boundless, and Immutable PRINCIPLE on which all speculation is impossible, since it transcends the power of human conception and could only be dwarfed by any human expression or similitude. It is beyond the range and reach of thought -- in the words of Mandukya, "unthinkable and unspeakable."

[dot, dot, dot]

The following summary will afford a clearer idea to the reader.

(1.) The ABSOLUTE; the Parabrahm of the Vedantins or the one Reality, SAT, which is, as Hegel says, both Absolute Being and Non-Being.

(2.) The first manifestation, the impersonal, and, in philosophy, unmanifested Logos, the precursor of the "manifested." This is the "First Cause," the "Unconscious" of European Pantheists.

(3.) Spirit-matter, LIFE; the "Spirit of the Universe," the Purusha and Prakriti, or the second Logos.

(4.) Cosmic Ideation, MAHAT or Intelligence, the Universal World-Soul; the Cosmic Noumenon of Matter, the basis of the intelligent operations in and of Nature, also called MAHA-BUDDHI.

The One Reality; its dual aspects in the conditioned Universe.

Blessed Be.  Astarte/Anita

Ok, I have semi-sorta further classified myself. This is by no means an exact explanation of my beliefs....

I am a monist-animist-pantheist-panentheist. Mouthful, you say? You betcha.

I believe in 1, count it, 1 divine source. (hence monism)

I believe in a spark of the divine existing in all things. (hence animism)

I believe that the universe is sacred, that nature is sacred, and we are a part of nature. (hence pantheism)

I believe we are all a part of the Divine. That the Divine encompasses all of the universe, yet it is infinitely larger than that universe. (hence panentheism)

I'm pretty sure I'll break this all down in the future..but this is enough for now.
