Tarot Cards

I decided to use this room to ask about Tarot Cards. What type used? How often, etc. Whatever you wish to submit as a topic of discussion.

I use two types - the Rider-Waite (these were my beginner cards and I love them too much not to use them occasionally) and I use the Witches Tarot. Both are useful and easier to read - as many of my clients/friends understand their symbols easier.

I have used tarot cards for years and I have used many different decks depending on what I'm looking for. I have an elemental deck - "The One World Tarot" - which is for my personal use. Occasionally I do readings for other people with it and it is a very thorough deck. The other deck I use is a variation of the Rider-Waite deck called The Robin Wood. I always like the original but this deck is far more expressive, detailed, colorful and much easier to read and understand. Another deck that I have used in the past is The Fairy Ring. It is also a very beautiful deck and simple to read, but it is very expensive (costs twice as much as Rider-Waite).

These are all wonderful decks Riya. And I also like the Fairy Ring - very true - they are very beautifully detailed.

I have used the Sacred Circle Deck for over 5 years, given to me as a gift I found that they worked quite well for me.  I have been given numerous decks over the years and very few seem to work for me...I find that the imagry, style, size, even the color combinations make huge variables to consider.

I bought my daughter the Mermaids and Dolphins deck for Yule last year.  She was only 10 and showed talent when she used my S.C. deck, but I also wanted to make sure the imagry and content was close to her personality.  The Mermaids and Dolphins deck has really stuck with her.  She blessed them, and keeps them close to her always.  I have had many people let her read for them after I have done a reading, and are surprised with her accuracy...this I believe is due to the combination of her natural intuitive abilitites and having a deck that was age appropriate, easy imagry, and of course one with the meanings, though simply put, already on the cards.  She has the companion book which details the cards' meanings and variables...

MM Shanti-

Yes, I agree that the Mermaids and Dolphins deck is a wonderful deck as well, and I am so happy that your daughter has such a deep connection to them. This is simply wonderful. Have you tried the Dororthy Morrison deck - the Fairy Tale (I believe this is the name) deck - these are whimsical and easy to read as well. As far as the Sacred Circle deck - I am, unfortunatly, unfamiliar with this one, so I am going to check into them. Thank you for sharing - many blessings to you and yours.

Very neat it is good to hear that there is a lot of deck readers out there. As for me and Raven we have the "Mystic tarot deck which we use for other peoples readings, and they seem to work very well. I personally have a wolf spirit deck and Raven has a Raven deck which are really personal and work very well on ourselves. It is great to hear that we are getting our children things that they need to help with the people that they are and not harness them away from what they are truly meant to do. Bright blessings on all.        LadyWolfe

I have only recently been able to be anywhere around the Tarot.  They used to make me physically ill.  Now, not only can I be around them, I can read them.  I have never studied the Tarot and do not know any of the symbology.  I just say what the card says to me.  I have yet to be wrong and have done only 5 readings, like I said, this is very recent for me.  I do not own my own deck, but have been blessed with the ability to read the decks of others (so long as I ask permission first and the deck is speaking to me in the first place. lolol)

I don't know if that will help anyone or not, but that is my own experience.

MM Elm - for me personally, I let my feelings take over - or my "gut" feelings as you said. I feel that it is alright to use a book for the meanings when you are first learning, but I seem to get a better "sense" of the cards when I am in tune with them, this means body, mind and soul for me.

I would like to collect Tarot and Oracle decks. I don't have much to start with, but I do have:

Rider-Waite
The Goddess Tarot
The Cat People Tarot (weird deck!) and
The Angle Oracle

Umm... I think that's it.

My Rider-Waite deck is my favorite, also the very first deck I ever got, handed to me by a witch who didn't use them anymore.

I'm looking forward to making my own some day. I found some blank cards to draw on at Azure Green's store. That oughta be a fun project ^-^

That's a really fun idea - can't believe I never thought of anything like that before.

Knowing I can't draw worth a diddly (diddly...that's a word right?) it might be interesting to design them on a computer and print them out on the cards.

Dark Greetings,

I currently own and read a deck By Londa Marks called "Crow's Magick". I have had this deck about 6 months now. I personally liek it for the Native American appeal, and there are a lot of very strong and clearly seen Symbols on the cards.

Greetings,

For awhile, I was out of the loop when it came to tarot and all that. However, I had purchased a never opened set of druidic based cards. Very beautiful in my opinion. I did my first reading with them today and they were so..accurate I couldn't help but laugh.

I just wanted to say...a very simple way of dispelling any negative energy from the cards is to just drop them on the floor. I know, might sound..crazy...but it works for me! lol

Namaste to all

WOW ~ I guess the topic of Tarot was a good idea lol.

Kri ~ if it works, its not silly

Golobah ~ that is a wonderful deck ~ also WELCOME to the Forum

Rev Dragon's Blade ~ yes diddly is a word - and drawing them on a computer is a great way to incorporate your energies into the cards - splendid idea :)

Euisha ~ got to let us know how that works please

Starchild ~ sorry that they made you ill at first, but glad they dont now, as for borrowing others decks, good idea, but I say you need to get your own too as they are a great tool

Elmcloud ~ that is a good question -- I have talked to a few people, at first they read from the book - but after they get to know the Tarot, they usually go with the gut instinct.

Lady and Raven ~ nice to hear from yous - I agree wholeheartedly

ANd for the rest of you - thank you for posting and it is great to see that we have, utilize and even expand our knowledge of the Tarot and tools at our hands in more ways then I can count. It is great to see.

Namaste
