All opinions stated in my posts are just that...my opinions...and should not be held in any way as the opinions of the CEPF Board of Directors or of anyone other than myself. - Rev. Heidi Andrews VP CEPF
I have to admit I am not at all surprised at NBC. After all, they bowed under pressure from the religious right to cancel the controversial "Book of Daniel" series, which I thought was really very clever and wanted to see more of. Unfortunately, we have some bible bashing fundamentalists who want to determine for the rest of us what we can or cannot watch.
Maybe things will change, but I think that everyone who found the usage of the pentacle in the NBC show offensive needs to write NBC and express their displeasure.
Hmmm... well this was interesting I will say. No, in a previous post here on the Forum I stated that we need to keep people out of boxes, lest we be boxed (basically). Now NBC is probably trying to be politically correct, or trying to smooth ruffled feathers. As for them bowing under the religious right to cancel 'Book of Daniel' (which yes was a nice show) I am not sure. I mean, in this day and age, who can say that what we do isnt always going to be under scrutiny and we may get backlash from controversy. So, I say that NBC may have done this as a way to keep feathers 'smoothed' . It was still and interesting piece though and honestly people who are afraid or are not explained to are suspicious (or afraid) of anything different, including the pentacle / pentagrams we wear. Now, what people can do is actually save this article and write to the producers of NBC and express your concerns. Inform them, open their minds to other possibilities, not what they were taught or believe. Give them and chance to learn / defend themselves. After all, is that the intergal part of the Pagan path? To teach those who do not know, to help those who are afraid???
