St. Judes tells Pagan group to desist using its name.

I just saw this article, and I must say, I am VERY disappointed with St. Judes. To the point that I have decided not to allow my children to participate in future St. Judes fundraisers at their schools.

Hospital tells group to count it out

I decided to send an email to St. Judes, which I encourage other Pagans disappointed by this decision to do as well. You can go to www.stjude.org and find the contact page to send and email or locate the phone number to call them.

What follows is my email to St. Judes.

I must say I was saddened to see, today, a news article saying that St. Judes is demanding that a Pagan group not list them as a beneficiary of their Oct. 29 event in Ramah, CO. Since when did St. Judes care where or from who a donation comes? Is their money any less valuable because they are Pagan?

I read that St. Judes is "separating" itself from "controversy." This, too, is sad as the "controversy" is being caused by the so-called "good" Christians of the local area. It's a shame that some people seem to think that Freedom of Religion means only their religion.

In light of St. Judes decision, I must unfortunately make the decision to withhold my children's participation in future Math-a-thons in their schools. I mean, after all, money from a Pagan seems to be of no use to St. Judes, so I'll just keep my children from wasting their time. I also, unfortuately, feel the need to inform my fellow Pagan parents in my area and of my Pagan church that their money would be best donated to someone far more appreciative than St. Judes.

I don't believe St. Judes realizes the hundreds of thousands, and maybe millions, of people it has aliented and disappointed with its decision.

Respectfully,
Rev. Heidi L. Andrews

This article is maddening. I agree Heidi, since when does donations from any groups religious backgrounds mean anything? I mean come on, its a donation for pitys sake!
I really wonder to my self why these so called good Christians think that a Pagans money is any different from any others? Is it because they know that they are Pagans or not? I am sure there are alot of Pagans that work, live and go to St Judes, it is a shame that a Pagans money is ok to accept other places, but not good enough to help. I too am going to write to them, this is a pity as it is the children that have to suffer due to segregation of the religions.

Way to go Heidi!!!!

Heidi has a great view in the subject and I myself would stand behind it.  Where the money comes from should be irrelavant and should be used for the care and treatment for children, and should not look as to where it came from.  These donations are from the heart, and not from a "organizations" title!
